Services for people with learning disabilities in North East London have been given a major boost with the news that local charity Ellingham have been awarded £703,433 from the Big Lottery Fund to pay for construction of a new multipurpose community centre.

The charity supports disabled people across east and north east London and will use the new building to house their “I Can Ventures” community enterprise initiative, which allows people with learning disabilities to work within social businesses.

The new facility will also be used to expand the growing day opportunities services on offer for people with learning disabilities, including accredited training and supported employment.
